Fashion is a moment: Faux + Real

Simply put, you can and should mix real fur and faux fur. I don't know what it is lately with me and fur and true blue, but I've been mixing it a lot lately. This blue pencil skirt is an example of the style of skirt that I have been living in for the past year. It is a pair of sweatpants that I altered and made into a pencil skirt. You can see another example in this post. It is both comfy and sharp at the same time. Lately, I feel like feeling cozy. Speaking of cozy, our house just got heat after two months of being without it. I'll miss dressing like a Russian Cossack inside, though. I am wearing a fox fur headband which I love. I have entire post about this fur halo headband here.  And I am wearing a faux fur vest that was on sale at Rue 21 for about $12.00. I love it. It has a ribbed knit turtleneck collar (read cozy) and a faux leather trim on either side of the zipper (read tough). I got it a size larger than I normally wear so it is roomy and has enough wearing ease for a sweater, sweatshirt or any kind of bulkier winter garment. It would look good with a buffalo check or plaid, too. I am also wearing my Sorel Medina High Heeled rubber boots from last year. I just did a post about some different styles of stylish, practical high heeled galoshes here. Back to mixing real fur and faux fur, I used to be opposed to it as I was more of a purist in every way about not mixing metaphors so instead today I just make puns. These days, I feel like faux and real are simply faux real.
