Fashion is a moment: Faux + Real

Simply put, you can and should mix real fur and faux fur. I don't know what it is lately with me and fur and true blue, but I've been mixing it a lot lately. This blue pencil skirt is an example of the style of skirt that I have been living in for the past year. It is a pair of sweatpants that I altered and made into a pencil skirt. You can see another example in this post. It is both comfy and sharp at the same time. Lately, I feel like feeling cozy. Speaking of cozy, our house just got heat after two months of being without it. I'll miss dressing like a Russian Cossack inside, though. I am wearing a fox fur headband which I love. I have entire post about this fur halo headband here.  And I am wearing a faux fur vest that was on sale at Rue 21 for about $12.00. I love it. It has a ribbed knit turtleneck collar (read cozy) and a faux leather trim on either side of the zipper (read tough). I got it a size larger than I normally wear so it is roomy and has enough wearing ease for a sweater, sweatshirt or any kind of bulkier winter garment. It would look good with a buffalo check or plaid, too. I am also wearing my Sorel Medina High Heeled rubber boots from last year. I just did a post about some different styles of stylish, practical high heeled galoshes here. Back to mixing real fur and faux fur, I used to be opposed to it as I was more of a purist in every way about not mixing metaphors so instead today I just make puns. These days, I feel like faux and real are simply faux real.

Cool Winter Accessories: Warm x Fuzzy Fur Headband Halos from Canada

This fur headband halo piece is one that I have wanted for years and that I did not have in my winter accessories wardrobe until a year ago. I ordered my fur halo on Amazon from the Overland Sheepskin Co. They are located in Canada and carry a wide range of mens' and womens' fur and sheepskin products from coats to gloves to earmuffs. It's Canada!. The product is very high quality. It is lined. The one that I have has a velcro closure and is adjustable. I wear it practically everyday. So much so that I really need a new and different one in another color. When I do order another fur headband, I will order from the same company and on Amazon. IAdmittedly, it is quite pricey, but for me the cost per wear has really made it an excellent investment piece. Until I am ready to splurge on another fur headband investment piece, I'll probably get a faux fur halo just to tide me over.

Hello You,
I am sharing photos of a Light Heather Gray Marled Pullover jumper and its matching sweats skirt that I designed and built. I loosely patterned the design of the top popover from a Gap yoga sweats top that I saw a couple of seasons ago. And the skirt is patterened after some sweat pants that I altered into skirts. I did this to several pairs that I have essentially been living in for the past year. I made the pattern for the skirt pictured above. The sweats skirt style is a pencil skirt silhouette so that you are able to feel comfortable and casual and still look trim and sharp. Cool Winter Accessories II: 7 Stylish High Heeled Womens' Rubber Rain Booties

Women's Hunter brand High Heel Rubber Rain Boots

Women's Hunter brand High Heel Rubber Rain Boots
It's raining..it's pouring but you can still wear heels thankfully. In the past when winter arrived, I always felt like I was shmutzing around all over the place mucking from parking lot to parking lot as very literally ran my errands in the big wide wet world of winter. Last year was revelatory for me when I bought Sorel's Medina and Medina II Women's High Heeled Rubber Boots. I wore them every day. They are stylish enough to go with anything --almost-- and tough enough to carry you through the most inclement weather. The only criticism I have of the Medina I is that the stacked wooden heel was not made rainproof either by Sorel or by me--a la mink oil--and has discolored in an unattractive way, but it's kinda forgivable and the shoes are still great. I would still like to have another pair of rubber rain heels for some variety. So, what do you do to prepare for stylish winter footwear? Let me know on my Instagram @daniellecelestexo

RESOLUTION SOLUTIONS FOR 2016 & My 9 Resolutions for the New Year

2016 daily goal tracker at elisejoy.com
(photo credit: Elise Blaha Cripe of enJOY it)

Hello You,
The New Year of 2016  is coming up and there are some habit forming, goal tracking tools that I really want to recommend to you. Elise Blaha Cripe is an blogger, creative entrepreneur and craftinista (my moniker for her) as well as a dedicated wife and mother. If you are not familiar with her or her blog or her podcast, Elise Gets Crafty, you are about to be edified. I have listened to every single episode of her podcast and I have purchased many of her products including her 2016 Goal Tracker worksheet, her Get To Workbook 2016 planner and her ebook called Building a Business all about building a business online which she cowrote with Maggie Whitley. A few of things that I plan to track this year in order to keep myself accountable are what I call my non-negotiables:

  1. my 4 a.m.
  2. my prayer time and bible study
  3. my Josie time --Josie is my puppy dog
  4. my piano practice. I practice 3-4 hours a day.
  5. the marketing and business of my blog and my etsy shop
  6. my drawing / artwork
  7. my goal to publish multiple e-books this year
  8. my blog posting schedule
  9. my social media posting schedule (in other words, my editorial calendar)
My, my, my, it's going to be a busy year and I am gearing up for it with these tracking and personal accountability tools. All along the way, I plan to share my progress with you, dear reader, on my blog. It will be fun to share photos of my daily tracker as time passes and the messy marks of each day. As an aside, I don't have comments set up on my blog yet, but feel free to follow me or say Hi on my Instagram feed @daniellecelestexo or on Twitter @daniellegrigsby
I truly hope that your New Year becomes you. And that as you turn this corner of time, you find your destiny waiting. Shape it, sculpt it, make it what you want it to be.

Talk later,

Expecting spectacles -- frames on their way

cool trendy hip womens' black eyeglass frames

I have never worn glasses, but now I have to so I just ordered a couple of groovy pairs from ZenniOptical.com that I hope will look good. They have a try-on feature on their website and I got some in person pointers from a local optometrist, but it's still pretty much like being blindfolded, spun around a couple of times and being handed a bow and arrow asked to hit the bullseye. I'll share the "after" after they arrive in a few days.

Cool Winter accessories~ladies' leather gloves~

Black Molla "Spring"

Leather Gloves Lined in Silk

(Not So Perfect)

It's still winter and I am convinced these gloves are totally awesome. This website offers Italian leather gloves that are "seconds" or not so perfect. I have not ordered from them yet, but I will and when I do, I will probably receive practically perfect buttery soft gloves for a hyuge, hyuge discount. A word to the wise--if you don't know your gloves size, don't be lazy like I was. I thought the Find My Gloves Size was going to be a hassle. It wasn't and I ended up missing out on some heavenly, buttery soft, yummy-looking ruched cafe au lait colored gloves that might have been my size under the Not So Perfect tab. So, measure those kittens and get purring.

Talk soon,

Danielle Celeste
